Now that I have my model 830 working pretty good I am thinking of trying to make the cabinet look better. I originally was going to do the "treatment" but after reading I see that the Howard's restore a finish is not really what this needs as so much finish is missing and lifting on top. I am lucky that the last owner saved this set even though all she used it for was decoration and a place to set a plant. Of course the plant is the reason the top is so bad. Would this set have a lacquer finish? The stand seems to just have stain with no finish. I don't have much refinishing experience so will be glad to have your advice. I was tempted to sand the top and sides and parts of the front to refinish them but don't want to get that drastic till I read more and hear from people with more experience than me.
Thank you Frequenceme

I don't own too much old stuff, I just temporarily take care of it for it's next owner.
