 Post subject: ID'ing wood from its grain

I find it hard to really identify what wood is on a particular cabinet from looking at pictures of grain. Are there specific wood species that cover most all wood cabinet veneer that I can at least get closer to figuring out what I have?

It's Walnut. It's always Walnut unless the cabinet is some special style, like "Early American".
