Hello all. I am in the process of refinishing a CS320 cabinet. I see from pictures of other sets, that there is some sort of ornamental piece on the ends of the two feet. Can anyone tell me what these are and how to source them or manufacture a reasonable substitute.

Thanks Steve

They look like stamped brass. I don't know what would use that now a day's.

Might be able to find thin plate brass and a ball bearing the same diameter as the foot to form it around.

A lazy solution might be brass colored Paint or glue and gold leaf....I don't think there is such a thing as brass leaf but I could be wrong.

I recently restored one of these. The brass pieces are like giant brass thumb tacks with convex heads. They hammer into the wood corner at the flat spot. Diameter at base would be close to that of a nickel and about 3/8 tall. I can take exact measurements for you if needed. Perhaps a round wood ball could be cut in half, painted brass color, and each half glued on each corner...

Good luck!

They are corner bumpers, used on trunks and boxes to protect them. They should be available from specialty hardware suppliers.

Taaa daaa. All your suggestions led me to find these. https://www.grandbrass.com/item/bbh0-5% ... tal_balls/

Thanks very much to you all for your input.

This also reinforces what I have suspected .... that sometimes it takes a pair of brass balls to do this hobby properly.

Thanks Steve

Pffft.

Wait till you need to solder a thinner than hair coil wire back onto a terminal lug it broke off of.... that is where you really end up testing those brass balls.
