I was going to try to fix my dial ring, but rather than plate or paint with Brass paint as you did, my plan is to clean down to bare metal, then try some toning laquer. Don't know how it will work but when I get it done I will post a pic for those interested.

I ended up popping for some pre done stickers, not as opaque as the ones done by Dennis with the powder. Will see how it goes.

I have sereral rings to play with.

Wow! That is fantastic. I'm bookmarking this thread-I too have one of these gorgeous old Zeniths. Fantastic work for a fantastic radio.

That looks fantastic. Exactly what I'm looking forward to repair one of my radios. Do you have the Corel Draw file that I can download instead of starting from scratch?

Thank you

I can email the digital files to you, however I am out of town at present and will send the files to you when I return on Aug. 10. In the meantime you might want to PM your email address to me.

Dennis was absolutely instrumental in my being able to finish the dial ring on this radio. Try as I might though, I could not get my lettering to come out as nice as his. I experimented with a few other things, and finally, found a Graphics Company who was able to make vinyl transfer letters. They went on nicely, and I was very pleased with the final product. I did a little test, spraying some with lacquer, and some with polyurethane. The letters stood up nicely to both chemicals. The lacquer, I think, made a slightly nicer finish. She has the lettering on file, and for $17 she will send you a set as well. Here is the link to her website. Again Dennis, thank you so much for all the hard work you put into this for me.

You are welcome Jeff.

The dial ring looks really good.

The company that you used will definitely be a valuable resource to us radio guys. I wonder if they can create gold type lettering with a black outline that is so commonly found in our hobby? I would suppose that they just duplicate the provided artwork ?

I see on their color chart they offer metallic gold but I'm wondering if they can provide that much required black outline.

You did a great job and I can definitely see myself using their services in the future.

Awesome! This is just what I need for a project I'm working on! I was wondering how I was going to restore the label on this battery charger - now I can just paint it white and add a black water slide to the top! I think I have a few hours of PhotoShop work ahead of me...

Thank you!

Excellent post! Just posted a thread about a similar problem with my rusted bezel...wound up graining the bare steel after I stripped it to give it a brushed stainless look, then clear coating the bezel to prevent future rust. Now I can replace the graphics should I choose to...and the black letters might be in order :) Like that the CD logo can be replaced too. Thanks group!
