 Post subject: Mercury 1000 query; to fudge or not to fudge.

I have started digging up tube testers I haven't fiddled with in a while, and one is a Mercury 1000. I notice they have a setting to check a 6L6 just for emission. However, they will test a 5881 and a 7027 for gm, so my thought is this; why not use the 5881 setting for a 6L6? They should be similar enough to make the 'fudged' setting come out right. I may just try it, with my fingers crossed. Unless, of course, someone stops me with sage advice why this is a bad idea.<P>------------------<BR>
