Hello All, I wonder if anyone has tube data
to test a Daven MU-20 amplifier tube? It has
a 6 volt fillament and is a 4-pin triode.
Thanks, Chuck
------------------
Hi Chuck
The number MU 20 means it has a gain of 20. At 6 volts the filament current is .25 amps. Plate voltage can be up to 150. Negative grid voltage -4.5 to -10.5 volts depending on plate voltage. Output resistance 40,000 ohms. This is how it's listed in S. Gernsback's Radio Encyclopedia 1927.
No currents are given. If it passes as a 40 should be ok.
------------------
Norm

Does anyone know what tubes are good substitutes for the Daven MU-20? Hoping 01a might do the trick...

The best replacement will be a type 40 (240, 340) tube with an amplification factor of 30. The amplification factor of the Mu-20 was, of course, 20. The circuit will likely limit actual amplification of the stage to something less than 20. If amplification is not a big concern, an 01A with an amplification factor of 8 should work.

This thread should be moved to "tubes & parts", a category that did not exist at the time of the first post.

Norman
