Yes, and you should fix it and if that doesn't take care of things you go forward until the problem is identified and fixed.

I have one of these things and it's basically a TRF set with a probe for the antenna. As a matter of fact, the TV shop I hung around in as a kid had one and kept it tuned to one of the local radio stations.
