Hi folks

In this restoration of a TO4 I am going to have to re-paint the cabinet...It is clearly a wrinkle finish, but the color has been so marred by time that I can not tell if it is a grey tone or a blue tone.

I will not be able to get an exact match, but I am going to use the VHT wrinkle finish described here before....

Thanks!

Steve

The way I determine the color to use when something needs painting is to see what color paint is in my garage.

Since you're painting it anyway, scratch it a little. The original color should show through.

The color of my TO-4 is a gray tone.

My TO-4 is in nice cosmetic condition. It is medium gray and has a fine wrinkle finish.

Thanks all...I will settle then for the gray tone that was mentioned in the post on heathkit finishes...it is darker, but the wrinkle over the shade strikes me as the less of the two weevils....
