Can anyone recommend someone in the U.S. who can restore or replace crystal cartridges authentically, i.e. with new crystals? Westech doesn't do it; I hear there's a fellow in Germany who grows his own crystals and does restoration on cartridges, but I also hear his workmanship is very shoddy and his crystals usually break fairly quickly. (Plus there's the hassle of sending something overseas, where it can't be tracked or insured.) Any leads would be most appreciated!

Has anyone here ever had any luck finding either new (recent vintage) or NOS crystals that were usable? If you own a restored crystal pickup, how did you do the restoration (other than retrofitting a different type of cartridge)? Thanks for your help!

I have an RCA player with a defunct crystal. I replaced thr crystal using a piece
of piezoelectric plastic. It plays OK on all the old and already ruined
pre-1945 78s I have but sounds bad ... but would even a new crystal
pickup sound any better? There are online instructiond for doing this.

IF anyone has a better method, such as using a crystal pickup, I'd love
to hear about it. The problem is that the force of this player is 63 grams,
however about half that is the weight of the pickup shell.
