1928 Holcomb & Hoke "Electramuse Super Tone" phonograph. The back story on this machine is that it came out of a neighborhood tavern in Reno. It had remained there until 1956, when the family who owned the tavern closed it and moved some of the contents into storage. It was acquired by me years later at the estate sale. It arrived at our shop back in 1984 and had remained in the back corner for decades. Finally, four months ago, it went into the shop for restoration. I didn't document the "possibly not so interesting" restoration as I've done so many times before here. This time, I'm just publishing the pictures as it appears in its final state, fully restored.

A few details: The back glass is animated, with moving clouds that also change color, and the background in the back glass has rippling water effects. The stack holds 10 records on special metal plates and the records play sequentially (no selecting). The turntable rises up to release and lower the next record into playing position. After the last disc has finished playing, the turntable pushes the entire stack up to the top of three pilons to begin the sequence all over again.

Enjoy, Russie
