Hello,
I have a Magnavox imperial micromatic turntable. (S600) (got it at a garage sale $50) The platter spins but when the record goes on, the record doesn’t spin but the platter does. Others suggested I clean the turn table and re grease it. I have done that and it seems like it’s even spinning better but still having the same problem. I have a new needle on the way too. The weight on the arm was wobbles so I tighten that. Record still not spinning.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
-Carla

Do you have the rubber mat that's supposed to be there?

I do not. They did not have it. I tried a mat from a different turntable I had. I was a bit oversized. Same problem. Could the mat be the difference?

Are you trying to say the record is slipping on the platter ?

What are you saying about the weight on the tonearm ?
That is also unclear.

Do you know how to properly operate the S600 ?
(that is, how to load records on the spindle and use the
automatic reject function ?)

The original platter mat has tabs that fit in those three holes you see in the platter. These tabs keep the platter mat from slipping on the platter. The platter mat keeps the record from slipping on the platter. If you use a universal type of platter mat, you'll have to rig up a way to keep it from slipping. A couple small dabs of glue might help. Good luck.

YES!!!! it was the mat!! I had another one that fit better. ( i do see the holes where the original is suppose to snap in) I did use a bit of glue. Everything is spinning together and playing great. No more slipping. I did mention the weight on the needle arm (sorry I'm not good with the terminology) only because when i got this console there were a lot of loose screws and i thought that was the problem.
THANK YOU every one for your input. I had a bit of a brain fart and it was a bit of a easy fix (*this time)

Those original Magnavox platter mats get hard as a rock. I use a felt mat laid on top of the original rubber mat. When the mats get really hard, not only does the record sometimes slip, but it can also introduce rumble. I have one felt pad that I use on all six of my Magnavox stereo changers. This prevents the need to find another mat. Nobody reproduces those mats that I know of.
