Bought over fifty 78's yesterday. Little bit of everything. Popular, jazz, a bit of classical etc. they were .40 each and are some of the nicest 78's I've ever found. Very well taken care of and probably not played all that much.

With Record Store Day being yesterday I picked up a few things at my local record store then hit the thrift stores:
New LPs -
Robert Johnson "The Complete Recordings" Curtis Knight featuring Jimi Hendrix "Live at George's Club 20 Dec 1965 & Jan 1966" R.L. Burnside "Long Distance Call" Johnny Mathis "Wonderful! Wonderful!"/When Sonny Gets Blue" 45rpm
Thrift Store -
Two 12" LPs - Kate Bush "The Dreaming" and Madonna "True Blue (remix)" (45rpm 12")
A bunch of 78's. Favorite so far is Ruth Wallis "The Sweater Girl"/"The Admiral's Daughter".

Bought a copy of Patsy Cline Showcase last night, original pressing not the re-release. Also bought a three album box set of Bob Wills. Can't wait 'till they show up!

Greetings from RojoLand! Went to a record sale Sunday, scored 44 items at a buck a pop. Among them were ten 7-inch 78s—four Berliners, five Improved Gram-O-Phone Records and Improved Records, and one Victor Monarch Record ("Monarch" was usually a term for Victor 10-inch records). Here's the oldest of the Berliners, recorded circa 1898: Attachment:

Just sold (on Kijiji) a number of 1980's and 1990's pop "music" LP albums for (to me!) decent cash plus 6 classical LP's in trade, the latter including three very good DGG recordings of Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Liszt and Grieg that sound virtually "un-played". A Happy camper! Cheers, Roger

Bought 12 78s from a local Humane Society second hand store, for 10 cents each. They were in a bin that was marked "craft records" with pictures showing various things made by heating the discs. Ugh! A couple Sarah Vaughn, a Les Brown, one by Bull Moose Jackson and his Buffalo Bearcats, a few lesser known that I can't recall just now. Plus 24 LPs...18 of which were Hawaiian; one was from "El Panama Hilton." The rest were just regular "old" stuff: Percy Faith, Al Hirt, Ray Conniff and the like. those were 80 cents a piece. RW

This album was recorded over twenty years ago but was originally released on cassette and CD only. It is now available on LP for the first time. My copy arrived yesterday. It's the first new vinyl record that I've bought in over thirty years.

Coool Daniel! I just bought a few DD's from a local shop. I am very happy as one of them has "MY Wild Irish Rose" on it.. It was my grandmothers favorite song..

Led Zeppelin 2 and 3, the new heavier vinyl. Played on my Pioneer PL7 turntable into my 1961 Motorola SK80 Drexel. 280 watts of great Rock & Roll

Bought about 100 cylinders (2 min, 4 min wax and indestructible) for 100 bucks. Found a very nice copy of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" on a Gold Moulded cylinder, along with Joy to the World (needed a Christmas cylinder), and "Shine On Harvest Moon" by Ada Jones. Very happy with that haul.

The guy that was selling them planned to trash the cylinders and use the cardboard boxes as candle holders. Not kidding.

Quote: I last got an IRON MAIDEN record (Powerslave) The record has a slight warp in it... Doesnt play well @ start of side 2...... Im putting under something heavy for hours and see if it hopefully flattens out...... Ah yes, one of my favorites! Still have mine from the 80's. I think I played it twice. Once to record it on tape back then and once just recently. Its still in pristine condition! I read saw somewhere about a guy who placed a record between two pieces of glass heated it up to flatten it out. Here, I found it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwHZZe3aOh0

Just bought 15 LPs Tuesday...most are Hawaiian themed. One of them, "The Call of the Tropics" by Gene Rains and his Group is one of the "Holy Grails" with the exotica music collectors. RW

Found at an estate sale for 50 cents. Condition makes it a great find. Looks unplayed. Using a bright flashlight cellphone application I can only see extremely light "sleeve marks". I'd have to say it's unplayed or very seldom played. Not hard to find Beatles 45's but the norm is usually well worn/played.
