Schematic: https://elektrotanya.com/grundig_satell ... nload.htmlelektrotanya.com makes you wait before you can start the download. Below the preview window, you will see "This file is downloadable free of charge: ...processing..." for many seconds before you get "This file is downloadable free of charge: Get Manual". From the schematic, it appears that your tuning control has three gangs, two of the gangs are capacitors, one is a potentiometer. The FM band circuit uses varicap tuning controlled by the pot. A replacement may be very hard to find. I suggest trying European antique radio forums. Someone in Germany, or nearby, may be more help. Best of luck getting this elaborate radio working again. Ted

Yikes! a problem indeed . If you can get the pinion out get it to a milling shop and create new . I had a cuustomer that had a home shop with a gear cutter who cut a slab of plastic and created a gear for a laser printer making us both a little dough . The toothed sectors look ok in picture, I am assuming the small pinion is stripped ?
Luck to you Hugh

I agree that finding a replacement cap assembly may be extremely difficult. Looking at your excellent photos of the part, it should be possible to repair it. My guess is that the plastic pinion gear that drives the sector attached to the cap rotor shaft has broken- either it has stripped teeth or it has become loose on the tuning shaft. If you have access to a local machine shop you may be able to get a new pinion gear made for you in brass.
It's not completely obvious (to me, anyway) how the tuning input shaft is retained to the cap frame, but there may be a pin that holds it in. If you can figure out how to extract the retainer pin, the steel input shaft with plastic pinion gear should simply pull out. If the pinion is just loose on the shaft but still has intact teeth, it may be possible to pin it to the shaft.

I have a chassis of a Grundig Carruso (don't remember the name). The variable cap is good. I'l try to get a picture tonight if you want.

This type of repair has been discussed in the past, (at least something similar). If you can get the unit apart, ( down to the gear level). It looks like the nylon gear is stripped. There is a company called "Stock Drive Products". Here is there web site: http://www.sdp-si.com/index.phpBy counting the number of teeth, the diameter of the gear, size of hole, etc, etc. If your in luck, it just might be a stock gear (replaceable in brass or maybe stainless steel) rather than something that was custom made just for their radios. I was able to come up with a stainless steel gear that I used to replace a stripped phenolic gear in a Motor drive section of a Canadian Rogers radio. Link: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=291400&p=2439006&hilit=motor+drive+gear+stripped#p2439006I was surprised that they had a stock gear, that fit perfectly and didn't cost very much,... if I remember correctly. Hope this helps... Tony
