As the title says, this is dumb, but it works. I've had a problem with the sparyer hose on the kitchen sink getting caught on the handles of the supply water valves. When this happens I only have limited hose extension, and I would have to reach under the sink and free the hose. Not a big deal, but irritating. I made this little guard that, so far, has completely soved the problem. Attachment:

As you can see I took a piece of scrap acrylic, drilled two holes somewhat centered and fed an appropriately sized rubber band through them. I then hooked the loops of the rubber band around the valve handles. If anyone else is experiencing this problem this is a quick and dirty way to solve it.

What's dumb about it. It's a simple but perfect solution. My only change would be to change out the rubber bands, that will rot and break, fir something that will last longer.

Nothing wrong with that solution-- not dumb, but crafty IMO. In a hidden location like that it's just fine and very easy to remove when needed. Perhaps that elastic banding that's used in sewing fabrics might last longer than a rubberband. I'm sure Wally-world carries it in crafts/fabrics section.

Not dumb at all. I've had customers that lived with that problem and never knew they had more than a foot of hose.

As Radar O'Reilley would say, "That looks kind of break-down-able."

Now that is simple-stupid cool. I've been screwing with mine for years. A royal pain. For the longest time, Ive been meaning to get under there and do something to stop it from catching. Now I know what to do.
Thanks Rob. Freeman.

Great idea! I'll remember it in case that issue comes up. Thanks.

excellent. i love to see innovative ideas come together. I've done a few myself.
my grandfather and great uncle use to call this (used as a verb): Kunger or Kungering
in my own words:
kunger (v): to use whatever you have to make something work better or to fix it, usually with an innovative/inventive thought process.
"We will have to kunger a way to fix this sink."
"That's a lot of kungering you did to make that work, grandpa."
i have NO idea where that word came from, who started saying it in the "great" family members, or even if it has an etymology.

steve Prob someone named Kunger would make things work by rigging things. Such as the way duct tape and wd-40 is used today. My father always has to have the precise wire strippers and screw driver. Me I can cut and strip wire with nail clippers and use a butter knife as a screwdriver if I have the need too.

steve Well, that was a joke on my part, trying to find a word with a similar definition. I more realistically think that your "kunger" is more likely just a bad spelling of "conjure". Attachment:
