I believe I have an early version of the Hammarlund Super Pro. It has the separate IF and RF gain controls. Serial number 774
Can anyone help me find a schematic and manual for this early version? I can find schematics and a manual for the slightly later? SP-200 version but not this one.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Regards,
Mark

Mark, check out Henry Rogers' article on the Super Pros.
https://www.radioblvd.com/hammarlund_super_pro.htm

It looks like you have the very early SP-10. The article has some information on that model and seems to suggest that the schematic can be found in Rider's. The Radio Museum site may have a schematic, too.

That's a wonderful find. Those sets don't pop up very often. It's in beautiful condition, too.

Mark, you have the SP-10X version. I think I got my manual from Radio Era Archives and it is an excellent reproduction with a large schematic. See item 5808 in the link below.

http://www.radioera.com/h-manuals.htm

Vintage Manuals also lists an SP-10 manual.

http://www.vintagemanuals.com/manuals.php (scroll down for Hammarlund))

Both sites list a manual with a title of "Super Pro", I don't know what that manual contains.

Hope you either got the power supply with the receiver or can go get it!

Regards,

Kagnew Guy

Thanks for the links and the info.
I still need a power supply for the set and the S-meter appears to be open. I haven't really delved into the rest of it yet.

Mark, can an SP-200 power supply be easily modified for an SP-10? Those supplies are fairly common. The military ones are bullet-proof.

Joe,
I'm not really knowledgeable about the early Super Pro sets but I think there is an issue that some of them used a field coil speaker with field coil terminals on the power supply? Once I get a manual to study I will know more.

Keep us posted, Mark. There are ways around the field-coil speaker issue. A lot of the early '30s sets had the same arrangement, but yet most of those field-coil speakers have gone missing.
