I picked up this Sparton 867 console and as you can see has a variety of issues.
I am wondering if this looks like a worthwhile cabinet to repair.
I am wondering if I should attempt to glue the cabinet shoulders sides etc before stripping.

My previous experience has to strip ;with lacquer thinner and steal wool which has generally
done a good job. I have not used any strippers for quite a number of years.

also looking for suggestions on approach to the splintering of veneer on the top front edge that
rolls over.

Cabinet is worth saving, glue cabinet back together with a good yellow wood glue and clamp it down, get some super glue the runny type and get it in the cracking along front edge, let it seep into crack push it down with metal straight edge and use some super glue spray activator while pushing down with metal straight edge. Then you can strip and refinish. Sand the repaired cracked area with 240 grit, don't burn thru the veneer and go with the grain.. This also will help remove any super glue on surface, good luck.

Thanks Fred for making the suggestions. I am now motivated to get started on this project.
I went down in my cave and found the superglue and accelerator that I had ordered about 9 months
ago. I forgot why I ordered it. Probably to repair one of my vintage ukuleles. at any rate now I can use
it also on that splintered veneer. Once again thanks for providing feedback. Also thank you Larry.

"...push it down with metal straight edge and use some super glue spray activator while pushing down with metal straight edge." Sound like a good way to glue the metal straight edge to the cabinet.

No need to worry the clear lacquer will pull off when you remove straight edge , and not the veneer. Or if you chose you can put a strip of wax paper on the straight edge. If there's a will there's a way.
