Gonna Build a Mountain.
I was familiar with the song. It is old school. Not rock and roll.

I learned to play and sing it out of a song book. I struggle to get thru it.

The lines:
Gonna build a mountain From a little hell
Gonna build a heaven And I know darned well
With a fine young son Who will take my place
There'll be a sun in my heaven on earth with the lord's

Good grace[/b]

It chokes me up!

Lead Me to the Cross by Hillsong

I don't know what's with this song that it makes feel emotional and at the same time motivated.

this song came over the whole house sound system this evening and allowed me to ponder.

although I've never experienced a heartache or devastation like this and i can't relate, I know people who have.

on behalf of those who have done so, you all have my sympathies b/c I can't even imagine how it would feel.

I've seen things like this bring people to their knees and emotionally scar and alter them forever.

it is a very powerful song.

I didn't read through to see if it was mentioned ,but the song "Time" by the Alan Parsons Project . It turns up in AM 1230 WJOI's rotation on occasion , I heard it today . The simple and poignant lyrics along with the instrumental sounds always have a melancholy effect and slightly frightening in its truth.

...and like a river, time will stop for nobody, whether they are alive or deceased.

our life is like that river. it begins. it ends.

I love that song.

Yeah me too.

Also, "Oh How Happy" by the Shades of Blue, same feeling.

There several songs and singers/singresses (or I should say male and female singers) which and who generate strong emotions in me but one event comes to mind: in 1975 I entered with a friend a coffee shop in Rome,Italy. The place was empty and as soon as the owner spotted us he started signing Mamma. He was truly amazing but a minute later he choked in tears. He went on telling us that he had never been able to control his emotions when trying to sing that song and that prevented him for singing the full song. I saw the same happening to a professional Italian singer while singing that song.
Trumpet elevates my spirits as soon as I hear it and I have turned to it whenever I felt down. There must be a hormone in us that gets overproduced when certain music or songs are played and as early as the early 70s it was known that flowers reacted to music by turning their petals towards the source of music!

i''m a big fan of George Jones.

his early stuff on musicor label (and perhaps capitol, if i remember), i'm not so much of a fan. white lightning and his early stuff, nah...

my era of george starts when he made "the grand tour" early 70s, thru the 80s, all the way up to his big honky tonk stuff in the mid-late 90's when he stopped cutting albums.

i absolutely love his music and have collected all of it from the late 60s and on.

i once was having a conversation with another music lover and he made a comment about george that really stuck:

"george jones could make a brick cry."
