Just bought some new grille cloth to replace damaged one on RCA console. It seems the old one was glued on with some kind of clear lacquer. What is the best way to install the new one? I used Elmer glue but it bled through cloth leaving dark spots. Looking for the experts here with their techniques. Thanks.

I have used a spray adhesive made for automobile headliners, or fabric adhesive. I think I've picked it up at an auto parts store, or a fabric store. Test on a hidden spot first of course.

I've always used 3M Super 77. I never attach to the cabinet though. Even if there isn't a backer board, I make one. Attach the cloth to the backer, then attach that to the cabinet.
