I just tried to buy some items on eBay and some of the items could be paid for via PayPal and some did not. The ones that didn't are part of a new payment system that currently accept PayPal, "they hope to accept PayPal this summer".
So all sellers were forced to accept PayPal and now you have all of this money in your account and cant spend it on Ebay, makes perfect sense...

Can you shed a little more light on this or post a URL of an item on eBay using this new non-PAYPAL method?

Thanks,

Terry

It's called Ebay managed payments, and there quite a bit if info on it if you Google. It appears that there has been quite a bit of backlash on it. It may be for more commercial sellers.

Thanks, found it. That "...sellers will no longer be paid directly from buyers via PayPal, and instead will be paid daily and directly to their bank accounts..."is interesting, to say the least!

PayPal and Ebay have an operating agreement that expires in 2020. They both announced earlier this year that they would not renew that agreement. The initial operating agreement allows Ebay to migrate 5% of it's payments to other payment services in 2018, and 10% in 2019. So that is why you are seeing other non-PayPal listings. Believe it or not, Ebay only accounts for about 10% of PayPal's transactions. Ebay sales have grown much slower than all other e-commerce, so it is not that big of a loss for Paypal.

Although I like paypal, one thing that has always scared me is the 6 month return times. Brick and mortar stores rarely go over 2 months. When ebay gets done screwing around with their own payment thingy if it has a 2 month return I'll be happy to say goodbye to paypal.

Its scary selling something expensive knowing 6 months later they could return it.

I can believe that.
I personally use Paypal for much more than just ebay.

I guess I'll have to open a separate bank account just for eBay. Right now using PAYPAL I do not link eBay to my bank account(s) for a lot of reasons and I just sweep eBay sales payments into a credit card.

Terry
