Hi Forum, I am always trying to find the correct material for mounting loopstick coils. I find a piece of metal and bend it into an "L" shape and drill out a larger hole for the stick...... I'm wondering if anyone has considered using a preformed "Plastic-L Shaped" I am looking at eBay and trying to find a plastic piece like used on brackets .....
Well any idea's on this should I just buy a small piece of sheet metal and suck it up ? or try a plastic piece?
I await your wisdom. Tony

Considering that the ferrite rod is somewhat brittle, I would be looking for a mounting system that has some soft mounts for the actual stick. Maybe a couple of one-hole plastic cable straps attached to an aluminum L- bracket. You also might be able to incorporate a pair of rubber grommets in the system you described above to provide the same cushioning effect.
I think you want to avoid ferrous materials in close proximity to the loopstick to avoid any de-tuning. I am sure some others with additional ideas will chime in.

Take a piece of flexible plastic, like tge lid of a margarine or yogurt container, and cut a strip from that. Drill holes at each end, and wrap it around the loopstick. Then mount it with a bokt through the holes.

I wouldn't use any type of ferrous metal with which to mount a ferrite loopstick, as there could be some interaction. Use some form of plastic instead.

In the old days, they used plastic cable clamps. Sometimes, they were glued to a piece of "fish paper", which was mounted to the chassis.

Rich, W3HWJ wrote: Adjustable loopstick coils came with a metal mounting bracket. https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/ ... 1431856580Rich Correct, and I built a few receiver circuits using them. However, the bracket fit right behind the (also) metal collar which retained the threaded shaft connected to the Ferrite core in a way that added minimal presence. And the core was adjustable, for any needed compensation.

I frequently use 2 pieces cut from a hot glue stick to support the loopstick or ferrite rod above the chassis. It is easily removable and may be made to look very pretty.

I guess I was thinking non-adjustable ferrite antenna coil in my earlier answer.
The adjustable ones like pictured above are obviously designed to me mounted in a hole in a metal panel.

Generally advisable to use non-ferrous metal near tuned circuits, less losses. The adjustable loop sticks had an aluminum L bracket. For solid ferrite bar antenna coils, plastic cable clamps can be made to work.
