There are very few vintage radios I find downright ugly, but this one is testing me.

Oh I dunno, it has it's points; I like the waterfall down to the grillcloth appearance. Other than that, the front "feet" look ridiculous, the dial looks like they stole it from a car radio, and the chassis appears to be just a 5 toober with a power transformer.
$275 eh? Another case of decimalpointitis. $27.50 would be a better ballpark.

That's prewar. It's the post war consoles that glorified true ugliness.

It took some effort to create such ugliness. I don't know of anyone who would want it.

Very plain and homely but I don't give it a full "ugly".

Time to revive the "Ugly Radios" thread?

BTW, Diverted, it looks good to me! But I agree with Fifties, it's not worth spending more than $25 or so on. But then, my taste is questionable. I spent 20 bucks on this Coronado-yuk!

Now here's ugly!

I'm sorry but Zenith made some real duds when it came to styling.

I know its not going to win any beauty contests, but I kinda like that majestic! :D

I agree with Michael, Zenith indeed made some real duds, especially after WWII...

I still have it's counterpart w/ turntable Model 2C60P. Have never been able to find another picture of this model except 1 grainy black and white ad.

Ha! I remember seeing that cover when I first got into old radios as a kid! I never knew that it was a real set. Pretty cool.

I see the first radio did not sell in that auction. Bland but nice wood veneer pattern I guess. Not as ugly as a repwood Crosley buddy boy type creation, to me!

I'm probably in the minority here, but I think that 2C60P is pretty sharp cabinetwise when it's in nice shape like it is on that album cover, even if the dial/controls are relatively uninspired looking.
