Before the new managed payments, if I sent a refund to a buyer, I would see a reduction in my fees because shipping or the item was less.

Today I refunded some postage and it became a flat amount out of my funds.

Is there a new way to send buyers refunds that I am missing?

Anyone else do refunds?

Thanks

Under Managed Payments, to the best of my knowledge (and reading of the same or similar situations on eBay seller forums), only a FULL refund to the buyer will result in a credit for eBay fees.

EBay just confirmed it for me.

Partial refunds mean no adjustment in fees.

I wish I was an attorney.

They are beyond greed now. I think tax on shipping is bullshi- too. I give a lot of partial refunds if I over estimate shipping.

I found something interesting

I sold something for $30 and shipping to Great Britain

When I looked at fee details, my fees was only based on the $30 plus the VAT (tax) of $17.75 which was collected from the buyer.

There was no fee on the shipping paid and collected.

There was an international fee and a final value fee.

So if I read things correctly, they are no longer calculating fees on shipping.

Can someone else take a look and see if they see the same?

Thanks

Paypal quit refunding fee's on refunds quit a while ago and that includes full refunds, so managed payments is better than papal on that.

Take the amount you would like to refund, take 13% off and send whats left. Thats all you can do unless you want to eat the fee's.

Back in the day a seller could eat the cost of packaging until they thru fee's on shipping and that ended that. There is only so much cost a seller can absorb and make it worthwhile.

Time to investigate alternatives. Bay wants high volume junk sellers like Amazon now.
