Probably for the radio in his head, that plays even when everything is turned off and the house is so dark at night.. 8)

5FP7 was a common radar indicator tube and 5FP4 was used as the viewfinder in some TV cameras. I don't know where something with a P11 phosphor would be used.

There's a scan of a catalog out there somewhere, sounded like it was for a scope where you could photograph your waveform but I could be wrong about that
