My question is why does this guy have so many and why are they all so beat up? I can't see paying anything more then $50 for the best one there in it's current condition. For $150, I would think that this seller would allow taking parts from other machines in order to make one really good and complete machine. I see maybe a couple of the machines which could be completed that way but the rest would be rendered totally useless and worthless. Right now, I don't see any of those machines being worth anything more then $50 max. Their more like $10 to $20 each for parts.

I had a decent, working desk top model and was lucky to get $50. They take up too much space and I wouldn't trust their test results.

I had a floor standing tube tester with locked storage underneath (even had the key). It was made by Mercury.

I sold it for $120 as I recall, but it was in exceptional condition and worked just fine.

I read drugstore tube testers purposely tested tubes low to help sell new tubes.

I don't know that is true.
It may be a wives tale.

The Mercury I had tested them similarly to a Heathkit IT21 that I have.

Many drugstore tubes testers, including the particular models featured on this Facebook ad, do have an internal meter sensitivity adjustment so that the owner can skew or bias the test results.

as can be done with most any tester actually. Not the manufacturers intent, I'm sure.

I used to test tubes on tester at local 7-11 or Peoples Drugstore(Chain), results were always correct(at least could weed out the bad 6GH8). I knew the Manager of 7-11 & fixed his TV

I can see a independent business such as local hardware or grocery store that tube sales would increase their take home.
