Radio Daze 2022, hosted by the Northland Antique Radio Club, will be held May 20-21, 2022 at the Comfort Inn of Plymouth, 3000 Harbor Lane, Plymouth, Minnesota 55447. This will be our 35th Radio Daze event and the 24th year at this location.
This is NARC's premier event, and we are proud to have both the Pavek Museum and the Antique Wireless Association (AWA) as supporting sponsors. The auction, swap meet, radio contest, program, and awards presentation are well attended by prominent vintage radio collectors from across the country. The radio contest includes equipment displayed from the early days of radio to the 1960's. Fliers have been mailed to all known radio collectors in the five state area.
The meet kicks off with a large antique radio auction in the hotel main ballroom at 7 p.m. Friday. We make this an entertaining auction and there will be a good variety of radios available. If you want to sell your radio(s) at the auction, check them in between 2:00 and 6:00 pm Friday. Auction preview is 5 to 7 pm, and the auction starts at 7 pm. Member Frank Rasada will be our auctioneer, with auction coordinator Don Hauff handling registration and check in.
The outdoor swap meet starts at dawn Saturday morning in the hotel parking lot, the hospitality room with free snacks opens at 7 am, contest item entry is 11 to 11:45 am. The program starts at 2:00 pm and includes a performance by The Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society. An abundance of door prizes wraps up the meet.
The Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society will present ‘Monsters and Artists’, an old-time radio double-feature!
The Society will revisit the great crime, horror and suspense shows from the golden age of radio by recreating two classic radio plays complete with music and live sound effects. Each episode features a classic, or maybe-not-so classic story from the mysterious old-time radio vault, complete with historical notes and nerdy trivia.
If you plan to stay at the hotel, please call them by May 6th at (763) 559-1222 to assure room availability and to get the Radio Daze special rate of only $99 per night for either Double or King rooms, Thursday through Saturday nights. For the special rate, mention you are with the Northland Antique Radio Club and are attending the radio meet.
A visit to the Pavek Museum is always a highlight of 'Radio Daze'. The Pavek Museum is located at 3517 Raleigh Avenue in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, just a few miles from the meet, and will be open at 10:00 am sharp on Friday and again at 10:00 am on Saturday. Make sure you are displaying your Radio Daze name tag for free admission.
