Wish I could have been there. It looks like the fall show is a bit bigger than the spring.

We were there 3 days. It was great and so was the weather. However, this was the last one we'll be setting up at. We're just getting too long in the tooth to keep it up, we're in our eighties now. It's been a great run and hopefully we'll be able to at least stop by and say hello at future shows to all the friends we've made along the way, God willing and the creek don't rise.

Success! Laetitia and Spencer are already talking about next year. We all had such a great time seeing everyone. I scored some crystals for the Martian from Norm, an *intact* Hegehog from Barry, and a Federal 59 because why not?

We're blessed with still having Mark & Leann at our crib, so I'm gonna go feed Leann more coffee.

Next time, they need to get their first radio!

Heh. Saturday one of the dealers pointed Letty to a table that had two marked free. She demured, but it's only a matter of time.

"First one's free..."

Honestly,
Not a good show (for sales) for me. It was a hard sell this trip. My prices were low on 99% of my things but I was straining to find buyers. Friday was like a Saturday. Busy for 3 hours but then people started leaving around noon FRIDAY! Saturday was a complete waste. I brought 13 consoles, about 40 table radios and a few chairsides. I sold 4 consoles, gave away 6, took home 3. I don't think I sold 10 table radios there but left about 8 there for the pickers. I was quoting $20.00 on $60.00 radios and still some did not buy.
I don't think I made the cost of the trip which is sad but I went to clear space and I did make a good dent in the den. I LOVE Kutztown but I feel like the show is slowing down. Most go Thursday now to buy and many then leave Friday afternoon. I feel bad for those who work and get there Saturday just to see a ghost town.

Of course aside from attendance the trip was great! I met up with the gang and we spent the days chatting and having a grand old time. The Bonfire was wonderful as usual. Wilbur, Amanda, Mike, Tom,Mike N, Terry, Terry 2, John, Steve, John 2, Sam, and so many others. I thank you for making a fun event.

Yeah, I had two consoles, a capped Zenith 6-S-254 and a capped 9 tube RCA 29K that I did not want to have to load up and take home since this was my last time setting up. By Sat I was down to $25 for both with no takers. You could hear crickets Sat.

I predicted the Sat problem back when they moved the auction from Sat at 1 to Friday night. That took away incentive for guys to stick around Sat morning, in my opinion. When I spoke with members it fell on deaf ears. They seemed more interested in bolstering the auction than in doing what was in the best interest of the overall show.

Now it's true the show on Friday has grown with both pavilions sold out but have you noticed how many empty tables there are? Every show I've set up in at my recent location in the pavilion closest to the gate the table next to me was reserved but never occupied. What I found out is because of the rule that only booth holders are allowed in on setup day (Thursday) people are reserving tables as a sort of early admission fee just to get early access to the sellers. They shop, buy, and go back home on Thursday with no intention to contribute to the show. In May and last week there were 5 tables right around me that were reserved but never used at either show, the same 5 tables, and that was just in my locale. So there's a difference between being sold out and being fully occupied.

I'm not in your guys' shoes -- I don't sell, and there's very little I'm looking for. This is a chill mini vacation for us. But we do buy something decent every year, a perfect 10A breadboard last year, a Federal 59 this year. So we are buyers, just no rabid. And we don't show up crack of dawn and would love to see the show run normal hours where Joe and Jane Public might stand a chance of being introduced to it.

Maybe game the system. Let's say $100 a table, and if you're there Saturday morning you get half back. If you're still there Saturday 3pm you get it all back.

Kirk, I kept losing you! Dunno why, but I'd circle and circle and finally, there's Kirk. That was probably just me.

Wow, that sure is a VERY expensive way to get early admission. At least bring a few things to help offset the cost.

This show really is part camaraderie as well as selling/buying stuff and the way the radio meet is done at Renningers, the former really shines through!
Please don't judge the show on how well you do on sales or finding stuff. Judge it on seeing friends you don't see often :D

I know I'm not the most social animal, but I sure do enjoy seeing everyone. :D

IT was great seeing you also Steve.
No one will go for the $$ admission fee. I have no issue with early selling
My issue is that so many leave early. very early this show.
Its all part of the game.

See you at the next one!

Kirk

With a gamed system you wind up with $0 admission fee if you stay til Saturday afternoon. This gets supported by folks who buy a table only for early admission buying. I'm with ya on all other points, but early ending isn't going to change all by itself.

I am already planning the next visit; a friend wants to go, so we can split up driving and expenses. He's a seller, so we can get in early.

I’m going in May and will reevaluate after that. I’ve not been to a lot of them, but have observed the results seem to be hit-or-miss

For me, it’s the 8 hr drive that gives me pause. It does seem that Saturday is almost a waste of time. Every time I’ve gone, it’s almost a ghost town and I’m packed and gone by 11

I might suggest cancelling Friday, and just doing Saturday when people are off work…..

I may be wrong, but if the "meat" of the event were held on a Saturday, there would probably be better attendance and as a result, more sales made. Personally, there's no way I can get away from work on a Thursday or even a Friday. Saturdays are even hit or miss, but there are probably more people out there who can free up a Saturday easier than a Thursday or Friday.
