Is that an 83Y135? I was given one (feb finds!) that looks just like it, except for the knob color. I'm looking for any info on it....manual or schematic. I didn't get any probes with mine.
I'd like to go through it before I smoke test it.

Here's a pic of mine:

I can't remember where I found the model number, but it's not on the unit. I believe I found a pic online of one that I think is it, and that's the number that it was called.

Note the different shroud on the eye tube. I'm perplexed by the wattmeter section.

Unfortunately, I have no idea of the model number.

I just looked in the 1960 Allied Radio catalog. On page 252, it sure looks like the the 83 Y 135. Cost $26.50 with only $2.00 down!

By 1963, the number is 83 Y 135-J and the price is now $26.95 so inflation has hit and it went up 45 cents! Now instead of $2.00 down, it is $5.00 monthly.

Then move four years forward to 1967 and it is now $29.95 and is called the KG-690. Allied did that to all of its models. Amplifiers/Tuners did the same.

Don, thanks also from me. I don't know why I can't remember looking through BAMA for stuff.

Now I get to build a probe!

Stephen, what all did you do to it?

Gary, I replaced a missing binding post, cleaned it, painted the cabinet, replaced the capacitors, tested the tubes (all were good), installed a fuse, and installed a three wire cord with a safety ground.
