Thanks for the year identification, but today I wired it for a test and the radio didn't have any power or lights. So I am wondering what my next step should be??

Hello,

Looks like first step would be verifying everything is hooked up properly and 2 amp fuse is good.

First which 2 Amp fuse, the speaker fuse, and secondly what is the best way to ground the radio?

Call me over-cautious... but, I would never attempt to power-on a car radio without the correct speakers attached.
Negative Voltage is supplied through the car's (metal) chassis.

It's best to stick to one-tread when discussing your radio.

I had my second question on the original thread, but Philco Fan moved it to the repair section?
I doubled checked all connections and all are good, but when I turn the unit on, nothing???

Positive or negative earth? Or either - selected with a jumper to case.

Assuming the radio is not powering on and you have a 12 volt DC supply properly connected to the power input, n6 and case ground, then you need to take the next step to troubleshooting the internal circuitry of the radio. You will need a voltmeter to do any additional testing.

I am also a proponent of testing car radios with a speaker connected to n7 n3 and n8. It is kind of a pain on these German radios because of the type of connector they use to connect the speaker to the set.

You can verify that you have switched +12 volts DC in the radio by checking if it is present at either of the two Aux. DIN connectors on the back of the radio.

DIN connector N2 is for an external tape player. You should read +12 volts DC between pin 7 and case ground when the radio is switched on.

If you don't measure +12 volts at this point then you may have a bad power switch or power input filter. The scale lamp also is connected to this point and if the lamp is working, it should light when the radio is switched on.
